DEVONagent Express is equally useful, especially in blogging situations. It allows you to really dig into a topic and find citations that might take much longer with a straight Google search. One often-overlooked tool for doing deep research is DEVONagent. I often collect links in a mind map as I build, but when it comes down to the average post it’s much faster for me to just have all of my references and notes open in Safari at once and use scripting to pull it all together. I also use my TabLinks Safari extension frequently to gather lists of links to start referencing in my posts. I have Services set up to grab selections (and their urls) and add them to a scratchpad in nvALT with a keystroke, and I can insert a Markdown reference list of all the open tabs in the window to my post with one of my Markdown Service Tools. I open a new Safari window and start searching (DuckDuckGo is my favorite tool), opening a new tab whenever I find the information I was looking for and starting fresh with the next topic.

Biting back tears, I head back toward the dimly glowing street lights, trying to console myself with hope of a morning search or some neighborhood posters. I know that I will only get disoriented if I attempt to traipse deeper into the trees. With a dismaying shudder I realize that I have also lost track of UGLA. I take several steps in each direction, straining my eyes for a glimpse of the red hat. What should I say now? Could it truly be an old forgotten burial site in need of discovery? Is this guy crazy? I force my head back up to ask more. I glance at the ground, half-expecting a skeletal hand to emerge. Otherwise, well…anything might happen.” My mouth has suddenly turned to cotton, but I nod as agreeably as possible, hoping I can convince the stranger that I will heed his warning. Too long they’ve been silent.” He almost chuckles with a wry grin. Full of souls forgotten, deprived of respectable burial. Ain’t no coincidence all them raised dirt patches. I manage to stutter, “the….cause?” It seems the man hardly blinks as he answers: “Those that lie here struggle to properly rest. The hairs at the back of my scalp begin to prickle. “Best be careful in these parts, unless you aim to help the cause,” drawls the man. I marvel at the detail of his costume as I gaze back at the African-American gentleman, wondering if he is fresh from a party or maybe a product of my imagination. The trees rustle to my left and I veer swiftly, shocked when I see not the dog but a man, ornately dressed in antebellum garb, his head topped with a velvet hat trimmed smartly in scarlet. Athens Train Trestle by Nicolas Henderson. I can’t help but think, as I trudge over the uneven dirt, how very much like a graveyard this back lot seems. I break into a jog as I approach the woods behind our neighborhood, and the bulldog glances back with an uncharacteristic howl as he bounds into the trees. I take off after the dog, who ignores my shouts and trots ahead. How could the dog have managed to get out of the house, or even out of his crate? And where is he going? I look ahead to his large shadow and catch an eerie gleam of his eyes through the darkness. Suddenly, I see an impossible figure: UGLA. All this college town has is a “haunted” sorority, and even that is said to bring marital fortune. I miss the odd stories, voodoo rumors, and mysterious sightings. I feel a twinge of detachment as I compare the atmosphere of Athens with the rich culture and folklore of Louisiana. I head out to ramble and my thoughts do the same. He’s a good dog, but tonight I opt to avoid the chance he might try to break away and chase after a princess-clad toddler. Acquired recently after the move from New Orleans, I’d named my bulldog with the convergence of old and new towns in mind. “Sorry, pal, not this time” I mutter as I pass UGLA, nestled in his crate. I trudge up the walk and back into my house for a quick shoe change. Maybe there will be some cute trick or treaters I can admire. With a disappointed sigh, I step from the car and stare out at the misty autumn night. I don’t feel like I know anyone well enough to call for a ride, and I live just decently on the outskirts to make it a nuisance to come fetch me. It is my first year in Athens and all I’ve heard about is this awesome “Wild Rumpus” event, and I can’t even make it down town. My fickle Honda has refused to start again, and on Halloween of all nights. “Why…” I groan with a futile pound on the dashboard. Clean-up is also easy since it is water-based. The fast drying time makes watercolors a popular choice for those who like to travel and paint. The drying time is variable and may rely on factors like humidity or the amount of water you use. However, you do not have to worry about any dry paint on your palette as you can easily re-wet the paint and use it again. Watercolor paints dry fast, in around 5 to 15 minutes. When painting, you can use these different levels of transparency to create layers and experiment with the vibrancy it creates. Watercolors come in a variety of transparencies, including extremely transparent, semi-transparent, and opaque. Also, if the acrylic paint dries, you can simply add a little water to use it again. When it comes to the watercolor tubes, the paint is a bit more saturated and works great for large areas and washes. Using watercolor pans is easy, as you can begin painting straight away. Watercolor paints come in pans and tubes. Most watercolor binders are natural, but you can also get synthetic glycol that acts as a binder. The paint can also sometimes contain other ingredients like glycerin or preservatives that influence the color pigment and viscosity. Watercolor paints contain pigments in a natural gum arabic. Also, solvents are not required when cleaning up – you simply rinse it in some water.īelow, you will find a few differences when it comes to watercolor vs acrylic paints. Both watercolor and acrylic paintsare, however, water-soluble and can be thinned by adding water. This is what holds the pigment together, allowing you to use it on various surfaces. The difference is how the pigment is carried within the binding medium. Paint must have a pigment, and all mediums have this fundamental ingredient. What Is the Difference Between Watercolor and Acrylic Paint? Manuel Vonau joined Android Police as a freelancer in 2019 and has worked his way up to become the publication's Google Editor. DRM-protected apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video are left out of the equation in the first place as you can’t properly see their videos’ contents from the Recents screen (or rather, you can’t make screenshot of the content, which is what needs to be done for Google’s text recognition to work). It will often recognize Instagram photos with text in them as photos you can’t extract text from but rather share as cropped screenshots only, and it doesn’t let you extract text from YouTube videos. While Google was first here, its feature isn’t as reliable as Apple’s, though. When you enter the Recents overview, you can either tap and hold whatever text you would like to extract or tap the Select option in the bottom right corner. While Google hasn’t introduced any new features like these in Android 13, the company already offers similar capabilities, at least when it comes to text. This allows you to hold and select text in paused video frames so you can copy or share the text you see in it. It’s basically a shortcut to send your friends and family personalized stickers, which you would usually have to create in a tedious process on WhatsApp or Telegram.Īpple has also introduced the option to copy live text in videos. While something like manual work in Photoshop is obviously still going to get you much better results, the process on iOS 16 is as seamless as it can get. Apple’s algorithms are good at recognizing where an object ends and where the background begins, and the cut out areas are right on point most of the time. The feature allows you to pick a random subject or object from any photo on your screen, tap and hold it, and then drag it into another app as a standalone object.įrom our testing, the feature works surprisingly well. Apple’s new smart drag and drop Visual Look Up tool truly seems like it’s out of this world, and it is something that we already wished to have on Android the moment Apple introduced it. iOS 16: Smart drag-and-dropĪs good as Google is with image recognition thanks to all of the pioneering work it could achieve in Google Photos, Apple is playing more than catch-up in iOS 16. If an app is localized into more than one language already, a developer doesn’t need to add any extra code to their project for the per-app language switching option to show up in system settings.Īndroid 13 vs. The company has made the process much easier for its developers than Google, too. Apple has supported the feature since 2019’s iOS 13. Meanwhile, per-app language options aren’t new to iOS 16. I haven’t run into any issues with this setup on my Pixel 6 and enjoy many of my apps in either English or German right now, but your mileage may vary as this ADB command unlocks an experimental option. You can work around this with an ADB command discovered by Mishaal Rahman, which loses the opt-in requirement and just makes individual language switches possible for all apps. Right now, you might only have a small selection of supported apps for this feature on your phone running Android 13. Even if an app already supports multiple languages, developers have to opt into per-app languages manually with a few lines of code. The research is published in the journal Diabetes Care, and was announced at the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, held virtually this year. “We believe that this protocol could be adopted by other aviation authorities to allow more insulin-treated pilots worldwide to fly commercial aircraft.” “Type 1 diabetes should never be a barrier to a person’s career or wellbeing.”ĭr Gillian Garden, who led the research at the University of Surrey, said: “Our study showed that there were no safety concerns, and certainly no episodes of pilot incapacitation, throughout the seven and half years of the study. Breaking down barriersĬonor McKeever, Research Communications Manager at JDRF, said: “It is great to see that advances in diabetes management are enabling more people with type 1 diabetes to do what they love. The researchers suggest that similar protocols could be used to enable people with type 1 diabetes (or insulin-treated type 2 diabetes) to take on other higher-risk job roles, such as bus driving and maritime work. The pilots had an average HbA1c of 7.2% (55.0 mmol/mol) both before and after they were certified to fly. This study suggests that this has not happened. However, this led to some concerns that pilots might run their levels higher than the NHS recommended range of 4-10 mmol/L – enabling them to fly by avoiding hypoglycaemia, but potentially risking long-term complications. If any of these blood glucose values measure lower than 4 mmol/L, or more than 20 mmol/L, the pilot must immediately hand over duties to the co-pilot. To do so, pilots must follow a strict routine of fingerprick blood glucose checks – no more than two hours before reporting for duty, within the 30 minutes before take-off, every hour while flying, and no more than 30 minutes before landing. In 2012, the UK became the second country worldwide, after Canada, to allow pilots with type 1 diabetes to fly commercial aircraft. The researchers also found no evidence that the pilots were running their glucose levels high to avoid hypoglycaemia, which would put them at risk of later complications. The results come from a study of 49 pilots with the two conditions, tracked over the course of more than 22,000 flying hours.ĭuring that time, almost 98 per cent of the pilots’ 38,621 blood glucose measurements fell between 5 and 15 mmol/L – the range in which a pilot is deemed safe to fly. The UK now has the largest number of commercial pilots in the world with either type 1 diabetes, or insulin-treated type 2 diabetes. Strict safety measures introduced in the UK are successfully enabling people with type 1 diabetes to work as commercial airline pilots, according to a new study. UK pilots with type 1 diabetes are safely flying commercial aircraft The P-18 shares many similarities with the earlier P-12NA and like the P-12 it is mounted on two Ural-4320 truck chassis. Also Retia, a Czech civil and military electronics company, developed its own, fundamental modernisation of the P-18 under the name ReVEAL. Currently, the Russian-Belarusian company Defense Systems provides upgrades for P-18 radars. The P-18 was superseded by the 1L13 "Nebo" VHF surveillance radar in 1984. These upgraded variants of the P-18 can be referred to as the P-18M, P-18-1 or P-18-2 depending on the manufacturer, modification and radar nationality. NNIIRT offers an upgrade package for the P-18 which includes the installation of a solid state transmitter and receiver, automatic jammer suppression equipment as well as PC based signal processing, test and interface equipment. The P-18 is still in service today and was widely exported, many companies offer upgrade options to improve the performance and reliability of the radar and to replace out-dated components.
